Perfect Honeymoon Destinations

Honeymooner's Review Guide just completed a poll for couples in the process of planning their honeymoons and expressing where they would "like" to go for their honeymoon. The Fiji islands were the top choice for the dream honeymoon destination with 19% of the votes. It squeezed out the Hawaiian Islands with 18% and French Polynesia with 15%.

Michelle McKenzie, Vice-President of Honeymooner's Review Guide, noted that, "This poll does not necessarily indicate where they ended up going for their honeymoon, but where they would prefer to go. Often budgetary issues limit the final destination of honeymoon couples. Actually, the Hawaiian Islands are the number one final destination of those who complete our post-honeymoon survey."

The results of their latest poll are revealed here from highest to lowest as follows:

Top Honeymoon "Dream" Destinations
19% - Fiji
18% - Hawaii
15% - French Polynesia
15% - Europe
11% - Thailand
9% - Jamaica
8% - Bali
5% - Anguilla

So why are these honeymoon destinations so alluring? Fiji has 330 islands, some with private resorts and others totally deserted. When imagining a place with white sandy beaches, palm trees, beautiful coral reefs and seclusion, Fiji fits the profile perfectly. Along with this ambiance comes some of the best island hospitality. The Fijian people are always friendly, saying "Bula" (hello) at every turn, going out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable.

A honeymoon in Hawaii offers dramatic coastlines; volcanoes; lush, green forests; native Hawaiian culture; tropical breezes; white sand beaches; picture perfect sunsets and spectacular resorts. This is the magic that keeps bringing honeymooners to the Hawaiian Islands. Not only are the Hawaiian Islands a tropical paradise, but each is unique in its own beauty. Hawaii honeymoon destinations offer everything couples could want for the perfect tropical honeymoon.

French Polynesia is engraved in our minds with the exotic over-the-water bungalows that are a dream to most couples. Tahiti is the main island in French Polynesia, but the most popular islands to visit include Bora Bora and Moorea. For the best in luxury and exotic accommodations, French Polynesia is a top pick.

Top Honeymoon Resorts for these and other destinations are available on the website.

Honeymooner's Review Guide is a full-scale honeymoon and destination wedding planning site. The website has 100's of pages dedicated to planning that perfect honeymoon as well as a large resort search engine in which they post the results from their survey of honeymoon couples for other couples to read.

Honeymooner's Review Guide provides a unique and contemporary outlook towards honeymoon and destination wedding planning; offering couples everything from planning basics to a full-scale hotel search engine to a honeymoon shop. Couples can read ratings and reviews from past newlyweds about hotels for the most accurate, unbiased information. Honeymooner's Review Guide is designed to help couples plan the perfect honeymoon that fits their style and preferences. For couples returning from their honeymoons, they can fill out a survey about their experiences and be entered to win a free vacation by going directly to their survey.

Hawaii still #1 most Popular Honeymoon Destination

Hawaii has consistently taken the top position for the most popular honeymoon destinations. Although honeymoon destinations are definitely changing, due to the resort industry, increasing income, maturing age of couples, and other factors, Hawaii is still that ideal, romantic tropical honeymoon chosen by many Americans. Why? No passport is needed, local language and currency, great tropical weather year - round, both luxury and affordable resorts abound, and to many it meets the definition of paradise. Destination Weddings are very popular in Hawaii as well due to a highly developed support network of wedding coordinators available at many resorts or as independent consultants on the islands.

Contrary to Modern Bride’s recent release indicating that Italy is the favorite destination for honeymoon couples, Honeymooner’s Review Guide’s survey clearly shows that the Hawaiian Islands are still the destination of choice for honeymoons. When asked why their survey showed Italy as # 10 and not #1, Michelle McKenzie, Vice - President stated, “The study completed by Modern Bride asks travel agents their “favorite honeymoon spots”, and we ask returning honeymoon couples where they actually went, to rate their resort and to provide a review that will help other couples planning their honeymoon. Therein lies the difference. Travel agents might love to send couples to Italy, but that isn’t where most couples are going.” When reading the list of the most popular honeymoon destinations, it is clear that many destinations make the list based on other factors other than overall beauty and appeal. Many couples cannot afford a luxury honeymoon in Bora Bora, but can afford a week stay on the less expensive islands of the Dominican Republic or Jamaica. The top destinations also tend to be locations fairly close to the states, which means less money in airfare and a shorter flight after the wedding is over.

Top Ten Destinations List of 2007 based upon where honeymoon couples vacationed are as follows: 1. Hawaiian Islands
2. Mexico
3. Jamaica
4. St. Lucia
5. Bahamas
6. Dominican Republic
7. French Polynesia
8. Fiji
9. Antigua
10. Italy

Couples are welcome and encouraged to rate their hotels, post their reviews and complete a short 10 minute survey to help other couples planning their destination weddings and honeymoons by going to: http://www.keysurvey.com/survey/75547/7c8c/.
Participants are entered in a drawing for a 2nd honeymoon.

The above statistics are taken from the continuous surveying of honeymoon couples performed by Honeymooner’s Review Guide. The great majority of respondents were from the USA and others from Canada, the UK, Australia, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates. Information on the company is available on its website, http://www.honeymoonersreviewguide.com
