'Today' Throws a Martha Stewart Wedding

In An Unprecedented Collaboration, “Today” Takes a Trip Down the Aisle With Martha Stewart To Throw The Perfect Wedding For One Deserving Couple

“Today” Travels to Locations in Las Vegas, Miami, Chicago and New York City In Search Of Wedding Couple Finalists

Wedding bells are ringing once again on NBC News’ “Today,” and one deserving couple’s Big Day will get even bigger. In an unprecedented collaboration, “Today” will team up with Martha Stewart Weddings magazine for the program’s eighth annual wedding series. Sure to be the most picture-perfect wedding yet, the winning couple, voted on by viewers, will tie the knot at a dream location chosen by “Today” and the Martha Stewart team.

Known for her wedding expertise, style and attention to detail, Stewart will act as a “Today” wedding consultant. She and her team of wedding experts – including Darcy Miller, editor of Martha Stewart Weddings magazine - will collaborate with “Today” staffers on ideas for the rings, the wedding gown, the tux, the attendants’ attire, and the cake, as well as the details for the ceremony and reception. Following tradition, “Today” viewers will vote on their favorite options to plan and finalize the nuptials. The ceremony will then be broadcast live on “Today,” Friday, October 5, 2007. The wedding will also be featured in an upcoming issue of Martha Stewart Weddings magazine.

In another new twist, “Today” will travel to specific locations in Las Vegas, Miami, Chicago, and New York City to give engaged couples the opportunity to hand in their applications in person. Potential “Today” wedding couples will have a chance to meet Al Roker and “Today” producers and make lasting first impressions. Standout couples will be picked to be finalists for the wedding, and will appear on “Today.” Similar to years past, viewers will be able to vote for their favorite “Today” wedding couple finalists. All interested couples should visit http://TODAYshow.com for submission information, entry applications, and the exact locations in these cities. In addition to submitting applications in the cities above, couples may also submit their applications online.

Additional wedding-related tips and ideas will also be developed for broadcast throughout the wedding series, as well as on http://TODAYshow.com and on marthastewart.com. Last year, hundreds of thousands of viewers logged on each day for seven days to plan the details of Molly and Jason Waggoner’s wedding. Users became virtual wedding planners casting their votes to make Molly and Jason’s wedding a reality.

Viewers will be able to vote for their favorite couples and wedding details by logging on to http://TODAYshow.com or by texting their votes to 46833.

“Today” is proud to announce NestlĂ© USA as the broadcast sponsor of the “Today Throws a Martha Stewart Wedding” Series.

During the series, photos will be made available on www.nbcmv.com.

Jim Bell is the executive producer of “Today” (Monday-Friday, 7-10 a.m.). Amy Rosenblum is the senior producer responsible for “Today Throws a Wedding.”
